I was traveling down the road of life
Me behind the wheel, no destination in sight
The road was rough with twist and turns
Avoiding potholes was my main concern
I was driving at a slow and steady pace
Enjoying the ride, not trying to race
But no matter how safe and hard I tried
I hit every pothole, it was a bumpy ride
JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL, my driving’s too slow
Jesus said “I will when you let the wheel go”
So I let go and took the passenger seat
Giving out directions for Jesus to meet
I moved to the backseat to get out of His way
Still giving directions that would lead me astray
I saw with my babbling how low I had sunk
I got out of the car and got into the trunk
The rest of the ride was as smooth as could be
With Jesus at the wheel and no help from me
