SONG…IF YOU DON’T KNOW JESUS(..you will never know peace)

(chorus)

If you don’t know Jesus

You will never know peace

If you don’t know Jesus

You will never know peace

(REPEAT)

(verse 1)

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life

He is the way, we must follow Him

He is the truth, we must believe in Him

He is the light, we must see through Him

He is the life, we must live in Him

(chorus)

(verse 2)

I will give you peace says the Lord of Host

I will give you peace says the Lord of Host

Peace as a river, when we follow Him

Peace with our God, when we believe in Him

Peace…where no peace, when we look to Him

Peace, perfect peace, when we live in Him

(chorus)

Take time to know Him

Take time to show Him

Take time to know Him

And you will know peace

A POEM…IF I HAD A THOUSAND TONGUES

If I had a thousand tongues

How weird would that be

If I had a thousand tongues

How big would my mouth be

If I had a thousand tongues

Would I be able to talk

If I had a thousand tongues

Would I even be able to walk

I understand the concept

Of a thousand tongues to praise

But the picture that it paints for me

Causes my eyebrows to be raised

You do not need a thousand tongues

To give to God your praise

Just use the one He gave you

And let your voice be raised

There is a way to honor God

And let your praises ring

It doesn’t take a thousand tongues

To God the honor you will bring

When you just live your life in Christ

According to His Word

Follow in His footsteps

Your praises will be seen and heard

A SONG…YOU

(verse 1)

You created the sun, moon, and stars in the sky

And after all of this, it was You who had to die

To save us from our sins

That we were drowning in

You reached out with your hand

And from it blood had ran

You were the ultimate sacrifice

Through You, we have new life

(chorus)

You are the Lamb

The risen Man

God’s only Son

The Blessed One

Who bore our blame

And gave your Name

To save our souls

From sin and shame

(verse 2)

You are the first, You are the last

The beginning and the end

And it was You and only You

That God would have to send

To win us back to His embrace

The trials of life, You had to face

You shed your blood on Calvary’s tree

And through this deed, You made us free

(chorus)

(verse 3)

Without a blemish, You were so pure

You would become our heaven’s door

You made the way for us to see

That we could have the victory

You freely gave your life for me

I give You praise on bended knee

Your are my Saviour, my very own

And where You are will be my home

(chorus)

A SONG…COUNT IT ALL JOY

(stanza)

Count it all joy, when your friends all forsake you

Count it all joy, when you stumble and fall

Count it all joy, when the world tries to break you

Count it all joy, in spite of it all

(stanza)

Count it all joy, when your burdens seam heavy

Count it all joy, when you can’t see your way

Count it all joy, when darkness surrounds you

Count it all joy, in spite of it all

(chorus)

For God”s still on the throne

And you are not alone

When things aren’t going right

Let Jesus be your light

On Him you can depend

He’ll be with you to the end

He will help you to stand tall

In spite of it all

(stanza)

Count it all joy, when your different from others

Count it all joy, when your back’s ‘gainst the wall

Count it all joy, you’ve no sisters or brothers

Count it all joy, in spite of it all

(stanza)

Count it all joy, you can speak to the mountain

Count it all joy, when it moves out your way

Count it all joy, when you drink from the fountain

Count it all joy, Jesus still lives today

(chorus)

(stanza)

Count it all joy, God is your Holy Father

Count it all joy, He won’t lead you astray

Count it all joy, all your worries and bothers

Count it all joy, He will take them away

(stanza)

Count it all joy, praise God the Father

Count it all joy, praise Christ His Son

Count it all joy, we have hope for tomorrow

Count it all joy, God is still number one

(chorus)

(fade out)

Count it all joy, praise God the Father

Count it all joy, praise His heavenly Son

Count it all joy, let us sing hallelujah

Count it all joy, in spite of it all

A SONG…YOU ARE MY ROCK AND SHIELD

(chorus)

Ooh ooh Jesus

You are my rock and shield

( repeat 4 times)

(verse 1)

You are my rock Lord,

          You are my solid ground

You are my strength Lord,

You are the hope I’ve found

You are my way Lord,

You lead me with your light

You are my eyes Lord,

I keep you in my sight

(verse 2)

You are my shield Lord,

You keep me safe from harm

You are my guide Lord,

You lead me by the arm

You are my pathway,

You are the one right road

You are my helper,

You help me bear my load

(verse 3)

You are my Saviour,

          You wash away my sins

You are my swordsman,

          All battles You will win

You are my comfort,

You dry up all my tears

You are my courage,

I have no need to fear

A POEM…” BUT… “( the negating conjunction)

The world is in a downward spiral

Sin abounds and has gone viral

People shooting and stabbing each other

Kids shot down in front of their mothers

BUT GOD…

Hello neighbor, can you spare a dime

“Get out my way, stop wasting my time”

Ragged old man, no place to call home

In a room full of Christians, he still feels alone

BUT GOD…

Doctor comes in with the results of the test

No good news, they’ve done their best

Just lost my job and the rent is past due

Four children to feed with food just for two

BUT GOD…

Single mom raising a child in the hood

He joined a gang, she’s done all that she could

Homeless child living out on the street

Begging for food, no shoes on his feet

BUT GOD…

With all of life’s ups and downs

In’s and outs, smiles and frowns

Trying to live by your own means and strength

To achieve success you’ll go to what lengths

BUT GOD…

BUT, the negating conjunction

What’s said before it, is made null and void

When circumstances are getting you down

Invite God into your life, and it will rebound

YES GOD !!!

A POEM …FOR LASHAE/FOR ASHLYN

(this poem was written for the family and friends of Lashay, age 9, and Ashlyn, age 7, who were struck and killed by a car while crossing the street on their way to Children’s Bible Study on September 15, 1999, in Bulter, Alabama)

She was a child

So young was she

Too young to die

So violently

We ask God why

This had to be

What good can come

From this tragedy

What was the reason

We may never know

And the healing process

It will be slow

In time this pain

We feel will dim

We’ll smile and know

She is with HIM

A SONG…THIS BOAT IS MANNED BY JESUS

(verse 1)

Traveling down the sea of life

In a boat without the oars

Using just the word of God

To get from shore to shore

Storms arise as they do in life

We are tossed from side to side

We firmly stand on our Father’s word

And soon the storm subsides

(CHORUS)

THIS BOAT IS MANNED BY JESUS

HE’S THE CAPTAIN OF THE SHIP

THIS BOAT IS MANNED BY JESUS

AND I WANT TO TAKE THE TRIP

THIS BOAT IS MANNED BY JESUS

NO FINER SAILOR KNOWN

THIS BOAT IS MANNED BY JESUS

AND HE’S GOING TO TAKE ME HOME

(verse 2)

There are other boats upon the sea

With passengers traveling too

They have no word to stand on

No God to see them through

Their direction is uncertain

Their way is not so clear

Destruction is in their future

And their future it is near

(verse 3)

The Lord has made the way for us

The pathway is well lit

The charted map is in our hand

And He has made us fit

We stay on course and never stray

Giving God the glory

We will make our destination

And live to tell the story

(verse 4)

Passengers from boats that crashed

Are floating all around

We who know the word of God

Must help them to dry ground

Some would rather sink than swim

Although I don’t know why

When they could travel safe and sound

If they’d just give God a try

(verse 5)

So keep His word before you

As a lamp unto your feet

To shine and light the pathway

For others whom you meet

As the sea of life keeps flowing

With all it’s ups and downs

Just keep your eyes on Jesus

And you are homeward bound

A SONG…WRITE THE VISION

Write the vision, aim high          (repeat 3 times)

Raise your dreams up to the sky.      (chorus)

(verse 1)

Write your vision, set your goal

Aim high, watch it unfold

Keep the vision in your mind

It will come to pass in time

Plant it deep within your heart

Reach for it, make a start

(verse 2)

Without a vision, My people perish

Have a vision and keep it nourished

Look forward to all of your tomorrows

Do not dwell on any sorrows

Make some plans and follow through

A strong foundation is there for you

(verse 3)

God had a vision when time began

He will see it to the end

What He started, He will finish

So can we with His Spirit in us

Write your vision, make it plain

Step by step, each step a gain

(verse 4)

Write your vision, make it clear

Mark your path from here to there

Keep it near you, in your sight

Strive for it with all your might

Know that it will come to be

Just have faith and you will see

A POEM… THE SPOON AND THE LADLE

A feast of God’s word

Is laid out on a table

Utensils are there

It’s a spoon and a ladle

The spoon’s the right size

For feeding yourself

Holds just enough for you

And not for anyone else

With the spoon you are well fed

Carrying food from plate to mouth

You eat until you are full

And will want some more, no doubt

And then there is the ladle

Too big to use for self

Made to serve to others

And usually on a shelf

But today it’s on the table

Why not pick it up

And use it to serve others

Fill someone else’s cup
